When the inhibitory effect of Nattokinase on cariogenic bacterial biofilm was inspected, biofilm formation by cariogenic bacteria was inhibited by about 80% at a concentration of 1 mg/ml of Nattokinase, and a significant decrease in the amount of non-water-soluble glucan was also observed.
It is thought that Nattokinase specifically inhibits biofilm formation, which is the cause of dental caries.
