Antiviral Action
Degradation of spike protein and prevention of viral infection tested in vitro
In vitro studies have confirmed that Nattokinase degrades the novel coronavirus spike protein and influenza virus hemagglutinin (HA) protein, and that degradation occurs at very low enzyme doses.
In preventing infections, these results mean that Nattokinase can be expected to be effective in degrading viral spike proteins, which are infectious agents on the virus side. When the viral spike protein involved in infection is degraded, viruses cannot attach to the oral and nasal mucosa (air passage) and cause infection. Thus, a preventive effect against viral infections is widely expected.
